Yes. LHDN's tax relief table lists "expenses on charging facilities for Electric Vehicle (not for business use)" as an individual relief of up to RM2,500 (marked "restricted") for years of assessment 2022 to 2025. The table gives no other conditions, so check LHDN or a tax adviser on what counts and which year applies to you. This is our reading as of 2 November 2026, not tax advice.

What does the LHDN table actually say?
On its Tax Relief page, LHDN lists item 21 as "expenses on charging facilities for Electric Vehicle (not for business use)" with an amount of RM2,500, marked "restricted", meaning the claim is capped. For year of assessment 2025 the same item also covers domestic food waste composting machines. We saw the item in the tables for years of assessment 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
What does the table not tell you?
The table is a summary. In the version we read, it does not say which costs count (for example buying, installing or renting a charger), what proof you must keep, or whether the relief continues for later years of assessment. We have not found those details on the page, so we do not state them here. Ask LHDN or a tax adviser before you rely on it.
Who can claim it?
It is an individual income tax relief, so it concerns people who file Malaysian income tax. It says "not for business use", so a charger bought for a company or a business does not fall under this line. Whether it applies to you depends on your own tax position, which we cannot assess.
What should you keep if you plan to claim?
Keeping your paperwork is sensible for any relief. Until LHDN or your adviser confirms what it needs, keep these:
- The invoice or receipt for the charging facility, with the date
- Proof of payment
- Any installation or rental agreement
- A note of the year of assessment you are claiming it in
- LHDN's reply or your adviser's confirmation of what qualifies
Where does the dealership fit in?
We are a car centre, not a tax adviser, so we cannot tell you whether your expense qualifies or how much you can claim. We can tell you about the Dongfeng Vigo and 007 charging figures on our model pages, and our guide to charging an EV at home in Johor covers the practical side of a home charger.

Questions
How much is the EV charging relief in Malaysia?
LHDN's tax relief table shows RM2,500 for expenses on EV charging facilities, marked "restricted", which means it is capped. It is a deduction from taxable income, not a refund of RM2,500.
Can a company claim it?
The line is an individual relief and says "not for business use". For business expenses, ask your tax adviser.
Does the relief apply to 2026 and later?
The tables we read on LHDN's page show it for years of assessment 2022 to 2025. We did not find a table for later years on the version we read, so check LHDN for the year you are filing.
Does Dongfeng Johor Bahru give tax advice?
No. We can answer questions about the cars and charging figures on our model pages. For tax, ask LHDN or a qualified tax adviser.
