Heat ages every battery over time, and Malaysia is warm all year, but a few habits help. Park in shade or covered parking when you can, rely on gentle home charging for everyday use, follow your owner's manual on charge limits, and keep up regular servicing. The Dongfeng Vigo and 007 both use LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries. No habit can guarantee battery life, so ask our service team about your car.

Does Malaysia's heat damage an EV battery?
Heat speeds up the slow ageing that every lithium-ion battery goes through, and a warm country gives it more heat to deal with than a cool one. That does not mean you should avoid driving or charging. EVs are built with systems that manage battery temperature, and everyday use in a warm climate is normal for them. The aim of good habits is to avoid piling on unnecessary stress, not to treat the battery as fragile.
Which everyday habits are kind to the battery?
These are general good practice for any EV owner. Your owner's manual comes first for your car:
Does fast charging hurt the battery in hot weather?
DC fast charging is made for trips and quick top-ups, and the car controls the charging speed to protect the battery. Doing it again and again in strong heat adds more stress than slow charging, so for daily use most owners rely on gentle AC charging at home and keep fast charging for longer drives. Charging speed on any day depends on the car, the charger and the battery temperature.
Should I always charge to 100%?
Advice on charge limits differs by battery type and by maker, so follow the owner's manual for your car rather than a rule you read online. If you are unsure what suits your car and the way you drive, ask us.
What does regular servicing add?
Dongfeng's service interval is every 10,000 km. Regular servicing at our 3S centre in Johor Bahru lets a technician look over the car on schedule, so small issues are caught early. Ask us what is covered at each visit for your model. High-voltage battery work should only ever be done by trained technicians, never at home.
Questions
Is Malaysia's heat bad for an EV battery?
Heat speeds up battery ageing in general, which is why habits like shade parking help. It does not stop you using the car every day. We cannot promise battery life, because it depends on how the car is used and charged.
Do the Dongfeng Vigo and 007 use LFP batteries?
Yes. The Vigo has a 51.87 kWh LFP battery and the 007 has a 73.48 kWh LFP battery, as listed on the model pages.
Should I avoid DC fast charging in hot weather?
You do not need to avoid it. Use it when you need it, such as on a longer drive, and rely on slower AC charging at home for everyday use. The car manages the charging speed.
Where can I ask about my car's battery in Johor Bahru?
Message our service team on WhatsApp or visit our 3S centre in Johor Bahru. Tell us the model and what you would like to know.
